Those doyens of disco, The Village People, are headed to Australia in May as part of their 40th anniversary tour.
The band first rose to prominence in the 1970s and their disco anthems dotted the charts through to the early ’80s.
But even though they’ve not scored a chart hit since, those anthems (‘Can’t Stop The Music’, ‘San Francisco’, ‘In The Navy’, ‘Go West’, ‘Macho Man’ and the inimitable ‘YMCA’) continue to be good-time staples four decades on.
And if the headline act doesn’t already have you dancing in the aisles, they’ve got ABBA tribute act Björn Again revving you up in the support role.
Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and the Gold Coast are all locked in for shows; the tour kicking off at Crown Theatre in Perth on Sunday May 21.
Tickets for all shows are on sale from this Friday, February 10.
May 21 : Perth (Crown Theatre)
May 25 : Melbourne (Palais Theatre)
May 26 : Sydney (State Theatre)
