British pop royalty Alison Moyet has confirmed an Australian tour.
Staggeringly, it will be Alison’s first visit to our shores for live dates in more than 30 years. And as such, she’s got a slew of fresh new tracks to play for us all.
“I’m beyond delighted to be returning to Australia and New Zealand again after 30 years” she says in a statement.
“Having had some considerable time to practice in the interim, I am glad to declare that gigging is my favourite thing ever.
“My new album ‘Other’ which continues the electronic sound-bed I favoured on ‘the minutes’ allows my live work to also present many of my earlier songs in their intended form, albeit with some jiggery pokery. Songs you know well. Songs to introduce you to.
“PS. I don’t do ‘Invisible’ but will do some Yazoo. It’s unarguably a fair exchange.”
So expect a hit-filled set. From the aforementioned Yazoo back catalogue (including ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Only You’), through to her early solo work (‘All Cried Out’, ‘Is This Love?’, ‘Weak In The Presence Of Beauty’, ‘Whispering Your Name’) to material from her 2000s albums and stuff from the new album ‘Home’ (pictured), there’s bound to be something for everyone.
