You just know with a name like ‘Yodel It!’ that Romania’s entry for Eurovision 2017 is going to be incredible… or nightmarish.
18 year old yodeller Ilinca Băcilă is no stranger to TV singing competitions, having entered a number of them over recent years.
The same could be said for 25 year old performer Alex Florea, who competed in the 2015 Romanian edition of ‘The Voice’, placing just outside the top four.
They’ll be competing in the second of the semi finals – on May 11 – in the hope of making it through to the Grand Final two nights later.
The main body of the song is a traditional, straight-forward R&B-tinged pop number. But the addition of the yodelling transforms it into something else in the choruses.
It’s different enough to stand out in the crowd, yes. But we doubt it’ll have enough to win the whole shebang.
