Estonia is another one of the countries competing against us Aussies in the second semi final at Eurovision 2017.
The Estonians first entered Eurovision in 1993 and actually won the whole thing back in 2001, placing third the following year.
But their results since have been patchy at best; failing to qualify for the Grand Final in eight of the past 13 years and placing top ten three times.
Estonia will be represented in 2017 by both Koit Toome and Laura Põldvere, both of whom have previous Eurovision experience.
Koit was his country’s representative in 1998, when they finished 12th.
Laura competed as part of girl group Suntribe in 2005 (they failed to qualify for the Grand Final).
Could combining their Eurovision chops in 2017 pay off?
‘Verona’ is the single, penned by Estonian songwriter Sven Lõhmus, who also wrote Suntribe’s 2005 entry.
We don’t mind it, to be honest. It’s an inoffensive mid-tempo pop number and the pair’s vocals work impressively well together.
But we don’t think it’s a strong enough track to make it all the way to the top on May 13.
