Jess Mauboy. Gympie Muster. The two don’t really seem to go hand in hand, right?
Unless, of course, you’ve followed Jess’s career from pre-‘Idol’ days or caught Jess on her recent national ‘All The Hits Live’ tour.
Because long before she was performing soul/dance/pop/R&B numbers or was living her live as ‘The Secret Daughter’, she was immersed in the country music sphere.
During her show, she talked about winning the Telstra Road To Tamworth back in 2004. And she performed a number of country classics, including LeAnn Rimes’ ‘Blue’ and ‘How Do I Live’, as well as Tammy Wynette’s ‘Stand By Your Man’.
“I have ALWAYS dreamed of playing The Muster,” Jess said in a statement. “This is an honour and a thrill and I am going bring my best country A game.”
Other artists on the roster for the 2017 Gympie Muster include Busby Marou, Amber Lawrence, Catherine Britt, Travis Collins and former ‘X Factor’ songstress Caitlyn Shadbolt.
The Gympie Muster hits the regional Queensland centre from Thursday August 24 to Sunday August 27.
Tickets are on sale now.
