It’s staggering to believe that Elton John’s iconic single ‘Rocket Man’ has never had its own music video. Until now, that is.
That’s because music videos weren’t really a thing when it, ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Bennie & The Jets’ were released in the early 1970s.
So, late last year, Elton announced a collaboration with YouTube for people to submit their ideas for music videos for each of the three revered songs.
“We’re excited to partner with YouTube to bring together generations of artists and music lovers around a shared passion for storytelling,” he said in a statement at the time. “YouTube is a rich tapestry of creativity, and I can’t wait to see how the breadth of talent from the dance, live-action and animation communities apply their vision to these cherished songs.”
Entries to the creative competition closed on January 23 and now here, finally, are the videos for the three songs;
ROCKET MAN (created by Iranian filmmaker and refugee Majid Adin)
BENNIE & THE JETS (created by director Jack Whitley and choreographer Laura Brownhill)
TINY DANCER (created by director Max Weiland)
