Melbourne outfit Retro Culture has this afternoon confirmed the release of their debut EP, ‘Wonderland On The Radio’.
Seven months on from the release of the awesome single ‘Fading’ and six months on from our GET TO KNOW feature, the project has morphed from a one-man retro obsession into the four piece we see today.
‘Bad Romance’ is the first song to be lifted from the EP.
“‘Bad Romance’ almost feels like a throwback to some of the earlier stuff we used to write and that 80s sound we love,” project founder Matt Connelly explains.
“It’s built on synth lines and arpeggiated bass, but it was kind of a happy accident. Philly sent me the synth riff one morning whilst I was playing around with a voice live touch.
“I had this weird digital harmony effect going and as I sat there singing over this synth loop I remember thinking ‘is this too much?’ I was just mucking around really, but I sent it to Philly and he loved it so we kept on going.
“By the end of the day we had the song and it had turned into what is probably one of the more personal songs we have written to date.”
The ‘Wonderland On The Radio’ EP lands at digital retail on Tuesday May 23.
