Canadian pop songstress Michaela May has gone ‘Rogue’, with the release of her first ever EP. But first… a little refresher.
Michaela first came to our attention at the start of last year with her altogether excellent single ‘1954’.
So enamoured were we with that particular track that we made it our No.7 Pop Single of 2016.
But she soon proved that there was plenty more where that came from; ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Your & I’ following in its footsteps.
Fast forward to June 2017 and three more songs have joined the aforementioned tracks; ‘Sapiosexual’, ‘Loveaholic’ and ‘Lost’. Together, they make up the ‘Rogue’ EP.
“I called my EP ‘Rogue’ because I have done everything independently and didn’t want my music to be controlled creatively by anyone,” Michaela explains.
“I think the biggest challenge for independent artists is being heard; alongside the financial burden of creating and promoting the record! However, I was so fortunate to have worked with incredibly talented people that saw my vision and helped me make the record I wanted to make.
“If someone had told me two years ago that two songs off of my debut EP would receive commercial radio in Canada, I wouldn’t have believed them, including getting support from Australia, Portugal and the UK!
“I’m so excited to release ‘Rogue’ into the world and I really hope that people enjoy the record as much as I do. It has been the most rewarding journey of my life and I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio to write more songs.”
In fact, true to her word, Michaela tells us that she’s already started work on what comes next. Watch this space.
