Brad headed to Universal Music’s Sydney HQ last Friday for a chat with the winner of this year’s series of ‘The Voice’, Judah Kelly.
Straight after the show, Judah was rushed into the studio, spending ten days recording his debut album ‘Count On Me’, which rocketed to No.1 on iTunes on release day – just a couple of hours before our chat.
Affectionately called “King Judah” on the show, the affable performer has just announced a September acoustic tour and a second single from the LP, ‘Kingdom Come’. As the album has a country flavour, we decided to play a fun game of “Country Song Or Not?”
Judah lists all moments with his coach Delta Goodrem as a highlight of his time on ‘The Voice’. When asked to talk about other times, he was quick to point out how he would constantly beat runner up Hoseah Partsch in the American football video game ‘Madden’ and revealed the tear-provoking moment he met guest mentor Jennifer Hudson.
Judah was lucky to be able to break the tradition of previous winners’ journey albums and release original songs. His first recorded co-write ‘When I Get Back Home’ is a special song he wrote after winning ‘The Voice’ and was seemingly chuffed when Brad made reference to Guy Sebastian as an influence.
Judah is a big country music fan and has just been added on the bill to the Gympie Music Festival alongside Jessica Mauboy, Adam Brand and Caitlyn Shadbolt. Judah will also be heading out on an acoustic tour in September with dates below.
