Brad headed to Universal Music’s spectacular Sydney offices over the weekend for a chat with Alfie Arcuri.
The winner of last year’s edition of ‘The Voice’, Alfie recently released his new single ‘If They Only Knew’.
The song rocketed to No.9 on iTunes in the hours after his performance and we shared its beautiful music video on the site just last week (HERE).
‘If They Only Knew’ is a powerful song that Alfie wrote about falling in love with a man and the relationship ending too soon because of his partner’s family not accepting it.
After only coming out at 24, Alfie now stands as a proud supporter for LGBTIQ youth and believes that by sharing these stories, he can help inspire empathy within the community.
Alfie was kind enough to reveal details about his upcoming sophomore album, set for release later this year.
He tells us he’s been writing with local hitmakers MOZA, who produced the recent ‘Sorrento Moon’ remake by auspOp favourites Tina Arena and Dannii Minogue.
He also went on a songwriting trip to the US to meet with some of the world’s biggest songwriters including Toby Gad (John Legend, Madonna and Beyoncé) and Jessie Thomas (Zayn, Troye Sivan and Martin Garrix).
We asked Alfie about the dealing with sudden fame and the pressures of the red carpet.
He revealed that he is the ultimate fangirl and suffered an hilarious trip up with superstar Tina Arena on the Logies red carpet.
To round out our series of interviews with Alfie, we asked him, ‘If you could have dinner with any three people – dead or alive – who would you choose?’. Not wanting to be greedy, he decided he’d like to have two dinners.
Alfie was an absolute pleasure to interview and we wish him all the success in the world.
His new single ‘If They Only Knew’ is out now and you can check him out live in Sydney and Melbourne later this year.
