Been praying for new music from Kesha? Then praise the gods, ’cause that day has finally arrived.
Yes, after a lengthy and very public legal dispute with her former producer Dr Luke, the US songstress is back. And she’s armed not only with a new single, but a new album to boot.
Kesha’s new single is called ‘Praying’, it’s out today and it’s also been serviced to local media (i.e. get requesting).
It was co-penned alongside Ben Abraham, Andrew Joslyn and Ryan Lewis (of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis fame). The latter also produced the single.
“I have channeled my feelings of severe hopelessness and depression, I’ve overcome obstacles, and I have found strength in myself even when it felt out of reach,” Kesha reveals in a statement. “I’ve found what I had thought was an unobtainable place of peace. This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you.
“(‘Praying’) is a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It’s also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”
It’s also one of 14 new songs to be found on Kesha’s upcoming studio album ‘Rainbow’, due for release on August 11.
