auspOp favourite Anthony Callea has just notched up his third No.1 album with ‘ARIA Number One Hits In Symphony’.
To launch it, the singer teamed up with Foxtel to film his show with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall in his hometown of Melbourne earlier this month.
That TV special is set to air in December, with a full national tour to follow throughout July and August next year.
Brad was excited to interview Anthony at Sony’s Studios in Sydney last week and we’re thrilled to bring you the first instalment of the four-part series.
In part one below, Anthony reveals that he has always wanted to record a symphonic album and was honoured to do it with good friend John Foreman and one of the world’s best symphonic orchestras.
When Brad asked how difficult the process was to puck just twelve songs out of all the ARIA number one hits in history, Anthony reveals that he was a little self indulgent and picked songs he felt would work best with a symphonic sound.
Anthony also speaks about how far he’s come since his experience on ‘Australian Idol’ way back in 2004.
Part two is coming soon, in which Anthony reflects more on his time on ‘Australian Idol’ and ‘I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here!’. He dishes up funny stories about pigging out on pizza with Ricki-Lee and convincing Casey Donovan to go in to the jungle.
