Excitement is building ahead of the release of Paloma Faith’s new album ‘The Architect’, due in mid-November.
The UK singer’s star is on the rise in Australia, claiming a top five placing with her third album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ and her first No.1 single with ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’, which was lifted from it.
‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ was actually her first ever No.1 single anywhere. So there’s guaranteed to be some interest in ‘The Architect’ and its lead single ‘Cry Baby’.
Also amongst its 15 tracks (19 if you’re going for the value-for-money deluxe version) are collaborations with John Legend, Owen Jones and Samuel L Jackson.
“‘The Architect’ is a social observation record,” Paloma explains. “I was adamant that I wouldn’t write about love. I wanted to look outside of myself. I’m coming at politics from the perspective of the common man or woman, observing why people are suffering. Each song on the record is about a different pocket of the socio-political world that I’ve been delving into.
“I wanted to write something more modern. On previous albums I’ve been more concerned with the past, but now I’m looking forward because of motherhood and wanting to change things for a better future. It’s a marriage of old and new.”
‘The Architect’ will build its chart story from Friday November 17.
