You may remember Melbourne performer Dalli from our recent Get To Know feature. Now he’s dropped the video for his single ‘Who Are You’.
The track itself emerged from a period of self-doubt after the break-up of a relationship, as Dalli explained.
“I wrote ‘Who Are You’ off the back of a super messy split with my then-partner,” he reveals.
“I was barely making enough money from busking to get by and had let a big music opportunity slip through my fingers. I had no idea who I was without these things that I had so intricately tied around my sense of self.
“I went down the Great Ocean Road, camped alone for a couple of nights and meditated. I sat in this empty, dark place for a long time and discovered something totally solid and unmoving. Underneath all the confusion, fear and emptiness there was a stillness and strength within me.”
Seemingly inspired by this journey of self-discovery, the clip begins with a camera moving through the darkness, armed with a spotlight until it happens upon our leading man lying motionless, looking up at the night sky.
It ends up with Dalli free from his inhibitions and the doubts that held him back.
