In the wake of the #MeToo movement, Melbourne songstress Francesca Gonzales offers up a timely new single in ‘Baby Give It Up’.
The 23 year old was inspired to write the track after an experience at a music festival during which a male punter kept harassing her verbally and physically.
“I started talking to my friends about it and soon realised that everyone had gone through similar situations,” she explains. “I wanted to write this song as a message to people who don’t take no for an answer. If someone asks you to stop, then stop.”
Plenty to like about the lyrical content, but plenty to like also about the swoonsome vocal and the future-soul soundscape that accompanies it.
We’re digging this.
