There’s been discussion over the years as to why Australia is even part of a European singing contest. But the same could be said for Azerbaijan, which is technically part of Asia.
Although this is only the 11th successive year the Azerbaijanis have participated in the world’s biggest music contest, they’ve punched well above their weight, placing third in 2009, second in 2013 and winning the thing in 2011 thanks to Ell & Nikki’s ‘Running Scared’.
This year, however, it’s Aisel’s turn to bring home the bacon (probably not bacon, however, given the majority of the country’s population is Muslim).
‘X My Heart’ is the name of the song; a rather straightforward dance/pop number that feels a little like some of the songs we’ve heard in competitions past.
It’s fun, it’s bright… it ends rather abruptly, but it’s by no means the worst track we’ve heard this year. Sept points.
