It’s day two of our Countdown To Eurovision 2018 and this morning, we’re zipping off for a look at the Estonian entry.
The last couple of years haven’t been too kind to Estonia; they failed to make the semi-finals at the past two edition of the competition.
But they’ve done well in the past – the combination of Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL proving too strong for the European voting public to resist in 2001, when they won with their English language single ‘Everybody’.
23 year old songstress Elina Nechayeva will hope to replicate that success in 2018 with her single ‘La Forza’.
It’s an Italian language single, which seems to suggest they’ll get a high vote from the Italian fanbase across Europe.
But it turns out that the rest of Europe thinks she had a good chance at taking out this year’s competition too; she’s currently second in betting.
And why wouldn’t she be. ‘La Forza’ is a big, dramatic operatic number laid across sweeping strings and contemporary beats, delivered by a woman with a hell of a set of pipes.
And the big note at the end? That’s a winner for us. Douze points.
