2018 will mark the fourth successive year that Australia has sent a star to Europe to compete in the iconic Eurovision Song Contest.
And, of course, for the fourth year in succession it’s an artist from the Sony Music stable of homegrown talent chosen to represent us.
Jessica Mauboy kicked off Australia’s Eurovision involvement, with a half-time performance of ‘Sea Of Flags’ back in 2014 to celebrate the event’s 60th anniversary.
From then, we were officially invited to participate; Guy Sebastian debuted in 2015 (finishing fifth), Dami was a dynamo in 2016 (finishing second) and Isaiah came top ten last year (finishing ninth).
So do Jess and her 2018 entry ‘We Got Love’ have what it takes to take Australia to the top?
She’s way up there in the betting stakes;
‘We Got Love’ certainly has that Eurovision vibe… positive lyrics, dramatic drums, a thumping dance beat and optimistic music bed.
There’s also a bright studio-based music video (below) in which Jess looks every bit the international pop superstar.
Roll on May 10! Dix points.
