We’re less than a month out from Eurovision 2018 and today we’re checking out this year’s entry from the Czech Republic.
The Czechs will compete in the first of this year’s semi finals – on Tuesday May 08 – in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final four nights later.
2018 marks only the seventh time that the country has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest. And one look at their history may unveil the reasons why.
Their best placed finish in the competition was a 25th in 2016, thanks to Gabriela Gunčíková.
Apart from that, they’ve failed to qualify on all five other occasions and didn’t even participate from 2010 – 2014 inclusive.
Former model Mikolas Josef will represent the country this year with his self-penned single ‘Lie To Me’.
While we’ll give him points for including a camel in his music video (a real one, for those playing along at home), we don’t think this unusual combination of urban beats, big trumpets and ’20s inspiration will be enough to win the night.
We’re giving it cinq points (though apparently it’s one of the highest placed tracks in the pre-betting).
