A ninth place finish in 2010 and 2011 is the best the Georgians have been able to muster so far, but will that change at Eurovision 2018?
They’ll have their work cut out in the second of the semi finals (on May 10), given they’ll be performing right slap bang in the middle of the pack (and right behind our own Jess Mauboy).
They’ll also have the added pressure which comes with performing in their own tongue.
Seven piece folk/jazz group Iriao are the ones tasked with winning the 2018 prize. Sadly one of their members (two in the instance of the music video below) will have had to draw the short straw; only six performers are permitted on the stage at any one time during Eurovision competition.
‘Sheni Gulistvis’ (or ‘For You’) is the song they’re hoping will result in them being crowned champions this year.
It’s not going to happen. Stirring though it may be and with beautiful layered vocals, it’s not particularly memorable and, to be honest, is even slightly dull.
We can’t imagine you’ll be seeing this one twice in 2018; deux points.
