Our Countdown To Eurovision 2018 makes a stop in Hungary this Easter Sunday; the country set to compete in semi final two.
The Hungarians have never placed any higher than fourth in any of the Eurovision competitions they’ve entered since 1993 (though they didn’t even participate between 1999 and 2004).
But will they succeed in making it all the way to the pointy end with the five piece heavy rock outfit AWS in 2018?
They’ll be performing their single ‘Viszlát Nyár’, the English translation of which means ‘Goodbye Summer’.
And they will perform the track in their native tongue; one of 14 countries doing so in this year’s competition.
They’re not going to win fans here at a pop music site simply because they’re a hard core rock outfit, but we can understand the appeal.
We also understand that the Hungarians are offering up something a little different this year.
To that end, they may very well stand out amongst the sea of ballads and op. But it’s not our cup of tea.
Quatre points.
