We’re now less than two weeks away from the start of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. And that means we’re getting towards the pointy end of our countdown.
Today we’re turning our attention to Iceland and their entry this year, ‘Our Choice’, performed by Ari Ólafsson.
Iceland haven’t done too bad for themselves in the competition since joining in back in 1986.
Though they’ve finished in last place twice and have failed to qualify for the Grand Final on the past three occasions, they have finished second twice (in 1999 and 2009).
But will ‘Our Choice’ be Europe’s choice in the first of the semi finals on May 08?
Incredibly doubtful. It’s a big, schmaltzy ballad that feels like it might have been plucked from the middle section of an old Westlife album somewhere. i.e. it feels incredibly dated.
But those playing along with a drinking game at home will be in for a couple of shots during this, with a couple of extraordinary notes towards the end.
And we get to see some of the sights of Iceland in the clip (below).
Quatre points.
