Could there possibly be a more apt contestant name to represent a country than Ryan O’Shaughnessy representing Ireland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest?
Laugh all you like about them, but Jedward’s 2011 entry ‘Lipstick’ remains the best performing track for Ireland in the past decade (their 2012 entry fared less well, however).
Including 2007, they’ve placed last twice, came 19th and 23rd and failed to qualify for the Grand Final in each of the other years. Jedward were eighth.
Not great reading for a country with a proud Eurovision history; Ireland is the winningest country in the contest (seven times in total).
So will Ryan O’Shaughnessy have what it takes to lift Ireland out of their Eurovision form slump?
He’s been on ‘The X Factor’, he’s appeared on ‘The Voice’, so clearly he’s got this TV singing competition thing down pat.
It’s a totally sweet music video featuring two guys doing their contemporary dance thing through the streets; a metaphor for the ups and downs their relationship.
