The countdown is definitely on to the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, with just two weeks to go. How will Italy fair in the Grand Final?
Yes, as one of the “big five” countries (together with UK, Germany, France and Spain), the Italians are granted automatic passage to the Eurovision Grand Final.
So no faffing around with the semis on May 08 and 10 for them.
They’ve been part of the competition (on and off) since 1956 and in those 62 years have won just twice.
But they’ve got a dynamic duo in Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro this year, both of whom have experienced incredible chart success in their homeland.
Ernal’s had No.1 albums, Fabrizio a No.2. Both have been through the Sanremo Music Festival experience.
So they’ve got form, they’ve got experience and they have a great song in ‘Non mi avete fatto niente’.
There are some powerful images in the music video (below), most of which depict scenes from various wars across the planet. Presumably, they’ll be singing about hoping for an end to the wars and not starting more.
Especially as Eurovision is usually a time for unity across the continent.
