2018 marks Montenegro’s tenth appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest and they’ll be hoping for a best-ever result.
The Montenegrins only joined the competition back in 2007 and after three years failing to qualify for the Grand Final, they sat things out in 2010 and 2011.
Since then, they’ve failed to qualify for the Grand Final on four of six occasions. Will history repeat in 2018? Or will they better their best ever result thus far of 13th?
That 13th place was back in 2015, when they performed their track in their native tongue.
In 2016 and 2017, however, they performed in English and failed to progress.
So it’s back to Montenegrin in 2018; a song called ‘Inje’ (‘Frost’) composed and performed by Vanja Radovanović.
Does Vanja have the goods to help Montenegro triumph?
We’re not sure it’ll make it through to the Grand Final, to be honest.
It’s a big, stirring ballad with some pretty impressive vocals. But we have the sneaking suspicion it’ll just blend into the pack, despite it being performed towards the end of the second semi final on May 10.
Quartre points.
