It’s been a heck of a long time since the Netherlands last won the Eurovision Song Contest, but could 2018 be their time to shine?
Yes, it was back in 1975 that the Dutch last walked away with the continent’s biggest music prize, having previously won in 1957, 1959 and 1969.
The closest they’ve come since 1975 was back in 2014 when The Common Linnets placed second with ‘Calm After The Storm’.
So to 2018… and spookily, one half of The Common Linnets (Waylon) is back, but now on solo mode.
Does the 37 year old performer have what it takes to take the Netherlands to glory?
His single ‘Outlaw In ‘Em’ certainly stands out amongst the pack; it’s a straight-down-the-line country number. And it’s not often we get to hear country on the Eurovision stage.
It’s a decent enough track too. Let’s give it six points.
