If at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again; that’s been Lea Sirk’s motto as she sought to represent Slovenia at Eurovision.
Yes, Lea’s tried three times to represent her country in the past. But finally in 2018, her fellow countrymen and women capitulated and she’s off to Portugal.
The Slovenian songstress has a music career stretching back more than a decade and it was back in 2009 that she first threw her hat in the Eurovision ring.
So now that her big chance has finally arrived, how will her single ‘Hvala, Ne!’ (‘Thanks, No!’) go down with the European audience?
Well they’ll be up against it from the outset; failing to make the final ten times since 2004. Their best result in that time; a 13th back in 2011.
They’re also performing in their native tongue.
The track is pretty peppy; it might be the little injection of life the competition needs, given it’s pretty ballad-heavy this year.
Slovenia will also benefit from being second last in the second semi final.
Still, we don’t fancy their chances. Six points.
