If we know one thing for sure, it’s that the Swedes certainly know how to do pop right, but how will Sweden fare at Eurovision 2018?
They’ve done particularly well in the past, winning six times including ABBA’s ‘Waterloo’ back in 1974 to Charlotte Nilsson’s kitsch ‘Take Me To Your Heaven’ in ’99 and to Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ and Mans Zelmerlow’s ‘Heroes’ in recent years.
This time, they have a familiar name representing them in Benjamin Ingrosso, cousin of Swedish dance music supremo Sebastian Ingrosso.
Before his No.2 success with ‘Dance You Off’, Benjamin’s only achieved top ten success in Sweden once in his career; with the 2017 single ‘Good Lovin’. Now he’s hoping European audiences will take the song to their hearts and get the competition back to Stockholm in 2019.
‘Dance You Off’ is overflowing with funk, soul and good vibes. It actually makes you want to get up and dance.
But we have a suspicion that a lot of its appeal may come down to the performance on the night(s) (yes, this should make it through to the Grand Final with ease).
Neuf points.
