We’ll forgive Jason Derulo just this one for using the American spelling of ‘colours’ for his new single ‘Colors’.
The track isn’t the official anthem for this year’s FIFA World Cup in June, but it is Coca Cola’s official anthem for this year’s FIFA World Cup in June.
So it should follow that ‘Colors’ should bring the fizz, right?
Lines like “can’t you taste the feeling?” gives you some idea what the song’s all about. And the myriad flags in the clip are all about bringing everyone together.
“As the lyrics say, ‘There’s beauty in the unity we’ve found.’ We’re inundated everyday with negative news and it’s hard to remain positive,” Jason admits. “That’s why it’s more important than ever to unite with people in your community to try and make a difference.”
Aside from Jason’s trademark dance moves throughout, there’s also some pretty spectacular scenery filmed in his homeland, Haiti.
“As a Haitian-American, I’ve become more and more invested in giving back to where my family is from,” Jason reveals. “To that extent, this song is a bit of a launch of plans that I am excited to reveal soon.”
We’ll take that as a “watch this space”.
