New South Wales five piece The Rubens have confirmed the late June release of their third long player ‘Lo La Ru’.
The story for the band, which began back in 2011, continues to grow, thanks to top five debuts for their previous two albums, ‘The Rubens’ (2012) and ‘Hoops’ (2015).
The title track from their sophomore album also struck gold, hitting the top ten early in 2016.
To coincide with today’s album announcement, the band has unveiled a new single entitled ‘Never Ever’, featuring vocals of Sarah Aarons, who was named Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year at Tuesday night’s APRA Awards.
“We actually thought with the album completed we would be writing a song for someone else,” explains frontman Sammuel Margin. “The main chord structure and melody was something I had been fiddling with for a while but couldn’t find the words or story for. After meeting Sarah and having a chat we got stuck into the song, started throwing ideas around. Pretty quickly we realised it needed to be a duet and from there the story started to take shape.”
