Record Store Day will take over retailers across the country tomorrow, with live performances, appearances and exclusive releases.
Now in its eleventh year, the annual event aims to celebrate the humble physical music retailer, far, far away from the clutches of the digital and streaming behemoths.
Naturally, there are plenty of celebrations planned across the country in some of the country’s most formidable music retailers.
The likes of Red Eye Records, Utopia, HUM, Fish Fine Music and Birdland Records are on board in Sydney.
Readings, Polyester Records, Basement Discs and Greville Records are among the slew of stores participating across Melbourne.
In Brisbane, Rocking Horse Records, Record Exchange and Jet Black Cat Music are among those taking part, plus a stack of retailers across Perth, Adelaide and Australian regional centres.
Speaking of Rocking Horse Records in Brisbane, local pop group Sheppard will be heading in-store for an appearance.
The Polish Club will be hitting Red Eye Records in Sydney to press the flesh.
Dan Sultan will be hitting up Basement Discs in Melbourne, alongside Harry James Angus of The Cat Empire fame.
Music fans will also have heaps of limited edition vinyl releases to get their hands on.
Titles this year include John Farnham’s ‘Whispering Jack’ and The Black Sorrows’ ‘Harley And Rose’, plus Dragon’s ‘Sunshine’, ‘Absolutely’ and ‘This Island’ from Eurogliders and Mi-Sex’s ‘Space Race’.
