Conchita Wurst was the last person to triumph for Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest, but can Cesár Sampson do it again four years later?
Conchita wowed audiences with her single ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ in 2014, placing first in her semi final and first again in the Grand Final.
Cesár seemingly has everything going for him to wow the Eurovision crowd; he’s a singer, songwriter and a model.
He also has Eurovision history, performing back-up vocals for Bulgaria for the past two years.
But in 2018, he gets the chance to shine in his own right with ‘Nobody But You’.
The track feels as though it could have been ripped from the Sam Smith songbook; think soul-filled mid-tempo pop, with additional vocals from a gospel choir to help inspire.
Not that there’ll be a gospel choir on stage with him, mind you, given Eurovision’s rules of having a maximum of six performers on stage at any one time.
‘Nobody But You’ isn’t a bad song by any stretch of the imagination. It just feels like we’ve heard it before.
