Our Countdown To Eurovision 2018 is reaching the pointy end, but today we’re checking out the bookie’s favourite, Israel.
It all kicks off tomorrow night in Lisbon and the Israelis will take part in the first of the semi finals.
But before they do, let’s check out their entry; ‘Toy’ by Netta Barzilai.
Netta has experience when it comes to singing competitions, having won one in her homeland last year. As the winner, she was granted the right to represented Israel at Eurovision 2018.
Israel’s done pretty well in the competition since joining in 1973. They’ve won it three times, the last of which came 20 years ago, thanks to Dana International.
It’s certainly going to stand out amongst the crowd, what with Netta’s bonkers clucking noises in the chorus.
It’s high energy, colourful and camp. It’s got one foot in the mainstream chart camp and another in novelty hit territory.
It doesn’t matter which you side with, it’s a big, cheesy, musical slap upside the head. And there’s nothing else like it this year.
Neuf points.
