Since joining the Eurovision competition in their own right, Serbia has placed third once and won once.
That win came back in 2007, the year after parting ways with Montenegro and entering under Serbia.
Serbian outfit Balkanika will take to the stage in the second semi final on Thursday night in the hope of taking Serbia all the way to the top in 2018.
Their song is ‘Nova deca’ (or ‘New Generation’ in English) and it will be performed in Serbian.
That, combined with the fact they’re third in the semi final, means they’ll be up against it. But hey, it worked for Portugal last year.
That said, we’re not convinced the combination of vocal flourishes and wind instruments in this uptempo track will secure the votes needed to progress.
