The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off in fine style last night with the first of the semi finals.
Ten countries have moved through from the first semi final (held early this morning Australian time) and will take their place in Saturday night’s Grand Final.
They’ll compete against host nation Portugal and the big five (UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain), along with ten countries from tomorrow night’s second semi final.
That means, however, that nine countries failed to progress.
So who made it through? In alphabetical order…;
That means, of course, that Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Iceland, Macedonia and Switzerland failed to make it past the semi final phase of competition.
In other news, Australia’s fortunes have plunged in the latest betting for this year’s competition.
Jess Mauboy’s ‘We Got Love’ was soaring as high as No.3 in early betting, but it’s now down at a lowly No.17.
Hopefully that position improves greatly after she performs the track tomorrow night Portuguese time.
