Fans of Melbourne artist Eves Karydas won’t have to wait too much longer for her debut album; it’s out next month.
She kicked off the campaign for the LP last week with an appearance on Triple J, paying tribute to Aretha Franklin for the latest outing of ‘Like A Version’.
It’s been a long journey to get to the album’s release too. From her humble early beginnings in Cairns to launching her music odyssey as Eves The Behaviour in Brisbane, to travelling to London. But all of these experiences have helped mould the artist she is today.
“I want to put across a sense of confidence in myself that I never had,” she explains. “I never tapped into that side of me on the Eves The Behavior stuff. I had to fake it for a while until it started to feel natural, but it has been the most liberating experience for me.
“It’s been the best thing, because suddenly I can talk about what I do and not worry about someone saying, ‘Oh, you’re really up yourself.’ It’s like, no: I’m excited. And there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Comprising ten tracks in total, including the new single ‘Damn Loyal’ (listen below), ‘summerskin’ will land at retailers across the country on Friday September 28.
