• Welcome to your Wednesday edition of The Purge. It’s the new Ruel single ‘Younger’ that gets first dibs in our midweek news wrap this week; the single is the latest to be plucked from his EP of the same name and was serviced to Australian media yesterday. The video for the track arrived earlier this month and it’s clear that his label is hell bent on getting this track away in a similar way to his breakout smash ‘Don’t Tell Me’. It’s one of a number of new songs making their way to Australian media in the past six days.
• Also heading out this week are 5 Seconds Of Summer’s newbie ‘Valentine’, the new Mallrat single ‘Groceries’, Liam Payne and French Montana’s collaboration ‘First Time’ and Cher’s cover of the ABBA classic ‘SOS’. We’ll be over on our FACEBOOK page tomorrow afternoon with a more comprehensive wrap of the new tunes doing the rounds at Australian media this week.
• Kota Banks, Cxloe, Cosmo’s Midnight, Hatchie and Baker Boy x Dallas Woods will all perform at ‘Front Left Live’, Spotify’s first ever live playlist in the Southern Hemisphere. The gig (which will also feature a special yet-to-be-announced international headliner) will take place in an inner city Sydney location on Thursday October 11. But if you want to be there, you’ll have to register for tickets via THIS WEBSITE.
• Shakafest will be back on the Gold Coast in November for its third instalment, with a new venue and an all-new line-up. Ready to rock the Goldie this year are the likes of Bliss N Eso, Alex The Astronaut, Last Dinosaurs, Bec Sandridge, Carmouflage Rose, Frenzal Rhomb and many more. The even will take over the city’s Broadwater Parklands on Saturday November 24 from midday ’til 10pm. Sign up for pre-sale access HERE before those tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am local time. General tickets then follow at 1pm local time on Friday.
• The Breeders, who’ll be on the ground later this year for appearances at both the Meredith and Fairgrounds Music Festivals, have confirmed they’ll play five headline shows as part of their visit. The band will hit up Capitol in Perth on November 28, Sydney Opera House on November 30, The Triffid in Brisbane on December 04, Canberra Theatre on December 05 and the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on December 08. Tickets hit the sales desk on Friday.
• Also in Australia for the Meredith Music Festival is Panda Bear. He’ll play for audiences at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Thursday December 13 before jetting up to Sydney for a show at the Opera House on Sunday December 16. Tickets for both dates are on sale from 9am AEST on Friday.
