Hot on the heels of his platinum selling smash ‘Healing Hands’, Conrad Sewell returns with his new single ‘Changing’.
‘Healing Hands’ was a confident comeback for the Queensland native, an ode to those who reached out during a tumultuous time in his life.
“Life on the road had become a whirlwind,” he said of his comeback to music earlier this year. “I was partying like a madman, and I completely fucked up a relationship I thought would last forever. When I started writing, I held nothing back.”
12 weeks after the release of his smash single ‘Healing Hands’, the track is still at No.12 on the ARIA singles chart and has a platinum accreditation to call its own.
No doubt he and his team at Sony Music will be hoping for similar results with this (very personal) new song.
“‘Changing’ is a super vulnerable and emotional record for me,” Conrad reveals. “I wrote it right when I was deep in a relationship and realised that I was ruining it. My actions and my addictions were starting to affect her. I would come home and see her crying… she was always upset. She wasn’t the same person that she was when we first started dating and I felt like it was because of me and the way that I was acting.
“So this is really me apologising for everything I’ve done and telling her to never change for anyone – you’re perfect the way you are. Especially don’t change for me, because I wasn’t worth it at the time.”
Conrad kicked off his trio of shows with a sold out performance in Sydney last night.
Tonight it’s over to another sold out show – at Howler in Melbourne. Tomorrow night it’s back to Brisbane for a sold out show at Woolly Mammoth.
