Troye Sivan is the latest artist to throw his hat into the ‘Queen covers’ ring, with a stirring rendition of ‘Somebody To Love’.
Like the 5 Seconds Of Summer cover of ‘Killer Queen’ (HERE), the new version of ‘Somebody To Love’ helps celebrate the arrival of the new movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ into cinemas.
But it also serves as a fundraiser for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an organisation set up by Queen’s manager and bandmates in the wake of Freddie Mercury’s death to fight the spread of AIDS worldwide.
Troye, Queen and Universal Music Group will donate net profits from sales of the track directly to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
“Troye’s version is a unique take on this Queen classic,” the band’s manager Jim Beach says in a statement. “It is both moving and totally original. Thank you from us all at the Mercury Phoenix Trust.”
