It’s edition #483 of ARIA Chart Watch, our weekly wrap of the ARIA top 100s.
And while there’s no change to the top of the ARIA singles chart this week, there is plenty of movement elsewhere, including new certifications, big moves, debuts and a new No.1 on the albums chart.
So sit back, pour yourself a cuppa and sink your teeth into our weekly ARIA chart wrap right here.
SINGLES
As mentioned in the opener, there’s no change atop the ARIA singles chart this week, with Drake holding firm in the No.1 position with his latest global smash ‘In My Feelings’. That’s despite the track beginning to lose its grip on No.1 spots around the world.
But there’s some great news for the 5 Seconds Of Summer boys in position two, with confirmation that their former No.1 smash ‘Youngblood’ (which Drake displaced from top spot last week) has been certified triple platinum, meaning it’s blasted through more than 210,000 unit sales in Australia.
Dean Lewis continues his ascendancy with ‘Be Alright’, which edges one spot higher to No.3, swapping places with the Maroon 5 single ‘Girls Like You’.
Good news for another Aussie this week too; Conrad Sewell on the receiving end of a new gold accreditation for his single ‘Healing Hands’ (35,000 units sold), as well as a new top ten berth (No.14 to No.7).
The Benny Blanco single ‘Eastside (with Halsey and Khalid) entered the charts at a respectable No.32 on debut last week. One week on, however, and it’s breathing down the neck of a spot in the top ten (No.32 to No.12).
The Martin Garrix/Khalid single ‘Ocean’ also bags itself a new certification this week (gold) at No.14, ahead of the Amy Shark single ‘I Said Hi’, which loses seven (No.8 to No.15) after the release of her debut album last week.
Jonas Blue continues to ‘Rise’ with his latest offering. The track jumping another nine places to another new peak (No.16).
Drake’s ‘Don’t Matter To Me’ (with Michael Jackson) is down 11 to No.18. His ‘Nice For What’ drops ten (No.17 to No.27); ditto ‘Nonstop’ (No.23 to No.33).
Local outfit The Rubens are flying with their latest single ‘Never Ever’. The track leaps 20 places and into the top 50 for the first time this week (No.52 to No.32) to become their second biggest hit to date.
Also into the top 50 this week are Bebe Rexha’s ‘I’m A Mess’ (No.54 to No.48) and Shawn Mendes’ former top ten hit ‘In My Blood’ (No.61 to No.49), no doubt in response to that tour announcement.
Shawn’s single ‘Nervous’ almost cracks the top 50 for the first time, improving 12 positions to No.51.
It’s quickly followed by a No.52 debut for the 6ix9ine track ‘Fefe’.
Drake’s ‘I’m Upset’ continues its descent (No.43 to No.53), ahead of a No.55 debut for the new Imagine Dragons single ‘Natural’. Kanye West is also on the outer this week with a ten place drop for ‘All Mine’ (No.49 to No.59).
It was in danger of dropping out of the chart altogether after a five week run, but the Troye Sivan and Ariana Grande single ‘Dance To This’ receives a chart boost, no doubt thanks to the reveal of the official video last week. It’s up 22 places to No.63. Still a long way shy of the track’s No.39 peak thus far.
There are new entries for Zedd & Elley Duhé (‘Happy Now’ at No.64) and Billie Eilish (‘You Should See Me In A Crown’ at No.66), but a 12 place drop for the Ella Mai single ‘Boo’d Up’ (No.56 to No.68).
George Ezra’s UK smash ‘Shotgun’ also picks up its Australian game this week, improving from No.87 to a new peak of No.69.
But the falls follow; Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ down 16 to No.71 and Hilltop Hoods’ ‘Clark Griswold’ down 25 to No.73.
Amy Shark’s ‘Adore’ re-entered the countdown at No.68 last week as the buzz surrounding the release of her debut album reached fever pitch. One week on, however, and the song takes a tumble again losing 26 places to No.94.
Drake’s ‘Mob Ties’ slumps 24 to No.96. ‘Emotionless’ leaves the top 100 entirely after being at No.69 last week.
ALBUMS
So one week on and Amy Shark’s new album has relinquished its grip on the No.1 spot on the ARIA albums chart.
Who’s replaced her? Not Drake, that’s for sure. He’s at No.3 with ‘Scorpion’.
No, the No.1 mantle down under this week belongs to the soundtrack to ‘Mamma Mia : Here We Go Again’, which jumps from last week’s No.4 debut to No.1!
It’s right ahead of another former No.1 soundtrack – that from ‘The Greatest Showman’ (No.3 to No.2), with albums from Amy Shark and Ed Sheeran making up the rest of the top five.
P!nk’s Australian tour sees an increase in the chart fortunes of both ‘Beautiful Trauma’ (No.8 to No.7) and her ‘Greatest Hits… So Far’ (No.13 to No.10).
Celine Dion’s ‘The Best So Far’ also benefits from having the artist in the country (No.14 to No.11).
While ‘ABBA Gold & More’ benefits from having a movie featuring all the classic hits in the cinemas. It’s up from No.48 to No.14.
Kanye’s ‘Ye’ improves this week (No.38 to No.16), but the Adam Brand best-of ‘Milestones : 20 Years’ drops 12 in its second week.
Gang Of Youths are on the up with their long player ‘Go Father In Likeness’, no doubt thanks in part to their appearance at Splendour last weekend. It soars back into the top 50, up 31 to No.25.
The release of the new movie in cinemas has seen the original ‘Mamma Mia’ soundtrack re-enter (No.32). The original ‘ABBA Gold’ also takes up a top 40 berth, rocketing 63 places to No.34.
Shawn Mendes’ ‘Illuminate’ is up (No.49 to No.35), but Vance Joy’s ‘Nation Of Two’ is down (No.21 to No.36).
The highest debut this week comes all the way down in the No.40 position – and that’s courtesy of ‘Hive Mind’, the new album from Los Angeles five piece The Internet.
Queen’s ‘The Platinum Collection’ jumps from No.66 to No.46 and P!nk’s 12 times platinum ‘Funhouse’ is also on the up (No.82 to No.52).
But Gorillaz’ album ‘The Now Now’ is on the way down down. It’s lost 29 places this week and is gone from the ARIA top 50 (No.25 to No.54).
P!nk’s previous album ‘The Truth About Love’ also benefits from that national tour, leaping from No.87 to No.55.
But The Carters aren’t touring (yet), so their album ‘Everything Is Love’ also takes a tumble, losing 30 places to No.56.
Dean Lewis’ ‘Same Kind Of Different’ is up 20 (to No.60), followed by debuts for 88rising (‘Head In The Clouds’ at No.61) and Catherine Britt & The Cold Cold Hearts (self-titled at No.62).
Chvrches’ set at Splendour also obviously set audiences’ pulses racing; their album ‘Love Is Dead’ re-entering the chart at No.67.
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ best-of is down 32, however, to No.93.
The news isn’t crash hot for Byron Bay outfit The Babe Rainbow, with their album ‘Double Rainbow’ in freefall. From a debut of No.18 last week, the album has disappeared entirely from the ARIA top 100 in week two, losing more than 82 positions.
