Brisbane’s own Sheppard have thrown their hat into the Eurovision ring, with the release of their single ‘On My Way’.
The band is one of ten acts who’ll be vying for the votes of Australians when they take to the stage at ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ on the Gold Coast next weekend.
The competition will be super-tough, with some great tracks already revealed.
“We’re excited at the prospect of representing Australia in what feels like the pop music Olympics,” the band said in a statement. “The fact that this is the first time the show has ever taken part in Australia and letting the public decide who gets to go to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 is really exciting for us.
“It will be an historic television event that we look forward to being a part of.”
“The song is about someone craving the uncontrollable heat and passion they feel when they are with the one they love,” George Sheppard continues. “It’s about excitedly making their way to reunite with their lover, wherever that may be in the world.”
Sheppard will compete against Kate Miller-Heidke, Alfie Arcuri, Tania Doko, Ella Hooper, Electric Fields, Mark Vincent, Leea Nanos, ‘The Voice’ favourite Aydan Calafiore and Courtney Act to be Australia’s representative at Eurovision 2019.
