The video for Taylor Swift’s new single ‘You Need To Calm Down’ is close to notching up 30 million views in less than 48 hours.
The track is the second to drop from her upcoming album ‘Lover’ and is a celebration of the LGBTIQ community in all its colour and vibrancy.
Taylor ropes in some seriously high profile guest stars for the video, including the stars of ‘Queer Eye’, Adam Lambert, Ellen Degeneres, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, RuPaul, Adore Delano, Todrick Hall, Ryan Reynolds and even her former pop foe Katy Perry.
But there’s a serious message underlying all the brightness, the colour and the fun; They’re all pushing back against the rising tide of anti LGBTIQ sentiment in the US.
And they’re all pushing to help support the equality act which would help prevent discrimination against the LGBTIQ community in the workplace. Not more rights… equal rights.
Yes it’s pop… with a message.
