Sydney dance pop songstress Starley has been a bit quiet this year, but all that’s changed with her new single ‘Lovers + Strangers’.
You’ll know her best for her top ten smash ‘Call On Me’, released back in 2016.
But she’s been peppering us with a series of dance pop gems across the years since.
Though new music may have been a long time coming, the wait has been worth it; ‘Lovers + Strangers’ is a cracker.
Dripping with electronic goodness and a driving rhythm, the single lyrically deals with the end of a long term relationship.
“It’s funny how as a kid, you picture the most perfect world for yourself as a grown up. Thinking you’ll do all the right things when you fall in love,” Starley explains.
“Then life happens and all the uncertainty that comes with it. And then one person who knows you better than anyone else, your lover and best friend, suddenly isn’t any longer; you wanna reach out to say hey, but you can’t because that would break the rules… You both have separate lives to lead. I guess we’re supposed to be strangers now.”
