If up and coming Aussie pop performer JXN keeps releasing quality pop songs like ‘Just Okay’, he’ll be a star before you know it.
The co-writer and producer on the track is DuWayne John Phinisey, who’s previously collaborated with the likes of Qveen Herby (aka Amy of Karmin fame’s solo offerings) and Yungblud.
And while we’re not especially enamoured with the cover image for ‘Just Okay’ (above), we’re more than here for the musical content and the personal lyrics.
“‘Just Okay’ was written one day after a breakup I went through,” JXN explains. “The mood and lyrics aren’t specifically based off that one breakup, but it made me think of people in relationships who are not feeling that great. It also made me reflect on how I may have made some of my ex-girlfriends or girls feel at certain time.
“I feel like everyone has the right to feel “great” not “just okay” so I really wanted to keep the messaging simple and strong.
“It was the first session I had on my LA writing trip last June and I fell in love with the song more as everyday passed. So stoked to be able to put it out! And I hope it connects with people not just in relationships but in general life, it’s okay to feel “just okay” but we should all strive to feel something great.”
