We featured Isabel Wood’s new single ‘Ghost 3AM’ on the site back in October, but today we premiere its official music video.
Isabel describes the track as her most personal and vulnerable yet; lyrically dealing with someone from her past whose presence in her life was both caustic and destructive.
Suffice to say, adding the visual layer to the release brought its own set of emotions.
“I actually found it very confronting to shoot this video,” she admits. “Writing a song as emotional and intimate as ‘Ghost 3AM’ was hard enough, let alone having to act those emotions out in a room full of people!
“They were all so supportive though and in the end I think I pulled off the sadgirl act – ‘Home & Away’ if you’re looking for someone? Nah just kidding. Unless..?”
The clip was shot in Aspley in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
“I really wanted to have a big, open street shot to accentuate the vulnerability and loneliness explored throughout the song.
“At the same time, I also feel you need to be fairly independent and have some pretty big balls to walk the streets alone at night, which is a fitting representation of the song’s chorus where I find some self-respect and ditch the fuckboy like ‘boom, I’m not your fucking ghost now, bye’.”
Bye then! 👋
So without further ado… please enjoy our auspOp premiere of the official video for Isabel Woods’ ‘Ghost 3AM’.
