Melbourne’s Daisy Spratt confronts a common misconception about the music business, with her fizzy new single ’23’.
Though Melbourne’s extended lockdowns throughout 2020 put most of Daisy’s plans on hold, she did have the opportunity to pen a couple of awesome songs alongside Rob Amoruso and Alice Blake. These included her last single ‘Thinkin’ Bout You’ and this, her new track.
“This song was so fun to write, but it’s real talk about what it’s like pursuing a career in the music industry,” Daisy reveals. “There are disappointments along the way, and things aren’t as glamorous as they always seem to be.”
“I thought that I would be famous at 23,” she sings, in a nod to the fact that life doesn’t always turn out the way one might hope.
Credit where it’s due, however, Daisy’s churning out commercial-quality pop music that would sound at home on any commercial radio network. If only Australian radio stations would support Australian artists, eh?
