Sydney singer songwriter Mila Nile hits all the right Scandi-pop moments on her stunning new single ‘Don’t Need Your Love’.
And you know, Mila might not need your love, but she damn well deserves your attention, with pop music as classy as this.
There’s so much to like here… whether it’s the cutting edge production, thanks to LA-based HVTCH or Mila’s vocals, which remind us of those of the sublime Norwegian songstress Kate Havnevik.
But there’s also a deeply personal message behind its lyrics.
“It’s about a toxic relationship, but not with a person, with a feeling – validation,” Mila explains. “I wrote ‘Don’t Need Your Love’ as an anthem to remind myself that I’m good enough and that my worth isn’t based on others’ perceptions of me.
“Some days can feel like every mirror shows you’re not good enough, every app tells you’re not interesting enough, and people in your life can make you feel not worthy enough.
“If you make music, it sometimes feels like every part of the industry is telling you you’re not talented enough.”
Don’t be listening to them, Mila. You’re rather spectacular just the way you are.
