Like all of our peers in the Australian music landscape today, our hearts are heavy to know that we’ve lost the incredible Michael Gudinski.
He passed away in his sleep overnight at the age of 68.
Michael genuinely had no equal when it came to championing Australian artists and their music.
Whether it was signing artists to his iconic Mushroom Records (which he founded when he was just 20 years of age), staging some of the biggest tours for some of the world’s biggest artists through his Frontier Touring or creating festivals littered with fresh new talent, his support knew no bounds.
There’s not a facet of the business that his relentless devotion and talented mind haven’t touched.
He was an icon of the Australian Music Industry. THE icon; a man whose sole focus was to get Australian music into the ears of Australian music lovers. A man who inspired and will continue to inspire us to do the very same.
We can’t even begin to fathom the sense of loss and grief that will be reverberating not just through his family and friends today, but also throughout the entirety of Mushroom’s Dundas Lane offices and the wider music community.
We send our love and deepest condolences to his family, his loved ones and his myriad colleagues.
