Get to know Super Disco Club, a debut act out of Melbourne featuring one seriously familiar member who’s already topped the charts!
Naturally this chart pedigree has resulted in another bonafide dancehall smash here.
The debut Super Disco Club banger ‘We Are One’ will get you all fired up, looking for the quickest route to your nearest dancefloor. And with this blasting through the sound system, you’ll be sure to work up a decent sweat.
So join us as we get to know the twosome behind Super Disco Club!
01. Band name : Super Disco Club.
02. Where are you based? Melbourne, Australia.
03. Who are your members? Andy Van & Cassie Van.
04. And what role do they play in the band? Cassie writes the lyrics, toplines, visual concepts and is the creative director of our social media. Andy is in control of the music production and remixes.
05. How did you choose your band name? We wanted a name that connects to ’70 & ’80s disco era but brings it into 2020s.
06. Give us five words to best describe the band. Discoballs, synthesizers, dancefloors, glitter, roller skates.
07. How was the band formed? We’ve known each other for a very long time since Madison Avenue days when Cassie was a dancer for us. We then formed a dance music group together called Vandalism together which was more of an electro sound.
We then got to a stage where we wanted to create a more disco sound so we created a new band together.
08. Tell us a little bit about your sound. I’d say we are firmly rooted in a dance area, connecting what we make with nightclubs and clubbers. We like to take influences and sounds and samples from ’70s & ’80s tracks. And then give it a strong 2021 dancefloor feel.
09. If you had to compare yourselves to an already established act sound-wise, who would it be? Maybe somewhere between Madison Avenue, Purple Disco Machine and Armand Van Helden.
10. What are your members’ favourite songs of all time? ‘Lady’ – Modjo, ‘Lolas Theme’ – Shapeshifters, ‘Anyway’ – Duck Sauce, ‘One More Time’ – Daft Punk.
11. Which song from history do you all wish you’d written? ‘Lady’ by Modjo is definitely something we both really love or ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ by Stardust.
12. What’s been the biggest highlight of your band’s journey so far? We’ve just started out with this band so we would say creating these songs has been a pretty special time.
13. What’s been your strangest experience as a band? Spending hundreds of hours getting a whole bunch of tracks all ready to go, and then COVID hit, no dancefloors world wide. And we’re a dance artist that 100% relies on DJs and dancefloors.
14. Who’s your most passionate groupie? We don’t have any groupies yet but we are definitely gaining a great support network of followers on our Tik Tok page with over 500,000 views in the last month since we created it.
15. Are you hotel trashers, cup of tea drinkers or somewhere in between? Not hotel trashers but we love to have a good time. Cassie loves her champagne and I love a good cup of tea.
16. If you could score the support slot for any act, who would you choose? Duck Sauce or Daft Punk if they ever did a reunion.
17. Tell us about your debut release. It’s called ‘We Are One’, and it takes its synth hook from a massive Studio 54 disco anthem, then we combined pumping dance beats and an uplifting diva vocal.
18. What do your plans for global superstardom involve? That’s a lofty goal, but we wanna make as many strong dance tracks that we can, and also do remixes and bootlegs of big dance or pop releases.
19. Where can our audience catch you live? We are looking at doing some gigs later in the year. But for now Tik Tok is the best place, we are posting on the there almost every day.
