Powerhouse Aussie performer Sheldon Riley impresses with his vocals – and visuals – on his new single ‘Left Broken’.
Just one look at the official cover (above) and we can’t help but thinking one tiny sneeze could leave him less broken, more horrifically scarred.
Naturally, the look has been inspired by Johnny Depp’s titular character in the film ‘Edward Scissorhands’.
“I grew up in a very religious family.. with that, came a lot of restrictions to my exposure to many things including music, film, etc,” he reveals.
“I remember I was at an Aunt’s house at a young age when I first sat and watched the movie. I knew nothing of the film other than the fact I wasn’t supposed to be watching it
“The idea of this scissor handed man, who was left so incomplete through the movie with no ‘happily ever after’
“I really connected to that and how most times there really isn’t a happy ending to heartbreak,” he says, alluding to his own personal heartbreak after the breakdown of a relationship.
You will, of course, recall Sheldon from his third placing on the seventh season of ‘The Voice’.
He returned the following year for the ‘All Stars’ edition, making it to the semi final stage, before heading over to the United States where he wowed audiences with more powerhouse vocals and incredible stage presence on ‘America’s Got Talent’.
We know there’s been plenty of discussion of late as to who should represent Australia at Eurovision 2022. Dare we say that Sheldon would be the perfect fit?
